Scroll through the list of affordable 1 day safari opportunities: Lake Duluti, Monduli Mountains, Arusha NP, Lake Manyara NP, Tarangire NP. Those who want to leave the ‘safari capital’ for several days can visit a combination of parks and/or go to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge or Serengeti NP. We can bring you in touch with local Tour Operators to organise your trip.
Lake Duluti
At less than 15 minutes drive from ONSEA HOUSE, Lake Duluti offers a nice opportunity for a relaxing walking ‘safari’ around the lake. Great to combine with a drink or Sunday lunch at Serena Mountain Village. Take a preview via our Lake Duluti photo album.
Monduli Mountains
The Monduli range, north-west of Arusha is situated in the heart of Masaai country and offers some rewarding walking. Ideal to combine on a relaxing day with a pick-nick lunch with view on the Rift Valley or with the Oreteti cultural discovery of the Maasai school of Gemma Enolengila. Have a look at our Monduli Mountains photo album.
Arusha NP
Situated at around 30 minutes drive from ONSEA HOUSE, this is one of the least frequently visited northern Tanzania national parks, making it a wonderful and rewarding off-the-beaten-track. Next to nice 4×4 game drive tracks around the Ngurdoto crater and the Momela Lakes, the park also offers possibilities for walking or canoe safari. Ideal as 1 day excursion! Witness our safaris in this Park via our Arusha NP photo album.
Lake Manyara NP
The Rift Valley is at its most spectacular in East Africa, and the sulphurous Maji Moto springs along the shore of Lake Manyara testify to the continuing subterranean volcanic activity. Great to do as a 1 day visit from ONSEA HOUSE or to combine on a multiple day safari or with a night game drive. Take a preview via our Lake Manyara photo album.
Tarangire NP
In the dry season Tarangire is the best place in all Africa for seeing elephants – though even these mighty beasts are dwarfed by the park’s huge baobab trees, many of them over a thousand years old. Plan this as a 1 day trip from ONSEA HOUSE or stay at one of the great lodges in the Park or Conservation Area. Take a preview via our Tarangire NP photo album or under the links to safari lodges.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The enormous caldera of an extinct volcano provides the spectacular setting for Ngorongoro’s abundant plains game and the world’s biggest concentration of predators. Close-up encounters with lions, buffaloes and rhinos are virtually guaranteed. Take a preview via our Ngorongoro photo album.
Olduvai Gorge
The archaeological site that revealed the cranium of 1.75 million old ‘Nutcracker Man’, and many other hominid fossils and stone tools. A pleasant diversion off the road to Serengeti.
Serengeti NP
The legendary Serengeti is home to Africa’s highest density of plains game and the scene of one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth each year, when over a million animals set off on their annual migration. When the migration is at home, the Serengeti plains contain the world’s largest number of mammals. Discover great places to see and stay under the links to safari lodges.
